Florida End-of-Course (EOC) Assessments

The Florida EOC Assessments are part of Florida's Next Generation Strategic Plan for the purpose of increasing student achievement and improving college and career readiness. EOC assessments are computer-based, criterion-referenced assessments that measure the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for specific courses, as outlined in their course descriptions. The first assessment to begin the transition to end-of-course testing in Florida was the 2011 Algebra 1 EOC Assessment. Biology 1 and Geometry EOC Assessments were administered for the first time in spring 2012, and the U.S. History EOC Assessment was administered for the first time in spring 2013. The Civics EOC Assessment will be administered for the first time in spring 2014. Achievement Levels for the Algebra 1, Biology 1, Geometry, and U.S. History EOC Assessments were established through a standard-setting process. This process will be followed again for the Civics EOC Assessment. For information about the End-of-Course Assessments aligned to the Florida Standards (Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry), visit the FSA Portal.

About the Assessments

What's on the Assessments

To learn more about the content of the Florida EOC Assesments, individuals may review the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards, the description of the course for which the EOC assessment is required, and the Florida End-of-Course Assessment Test Item Specifications. The Standards and course descriptions specify the expectations for student learning in Florida and provide the basis for the content that will be measured on each Florida EOC Assessment. The Florida End-of-Course Assessment Test Item Specifications provide information regarding the content and format of the assessments, as well as sample test items for each benchmark assessed.
